The SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide consistent, structured support that promotes engagement, independence, and positive outcomes. Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide classroom and pastoral support for secondary-aged pupils with SEND
- Support pupils with autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties on a one-to-one or small group basis
- Assist with differentiated learning activities across the curriculum
- Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement using consistent strategies
- Follow individual education plans and support plans accurately
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
- Prepare and organise learning resources as required
- Contribute to a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
