We're seeking a proactive and technically skilled Mechanical Manager to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a wide range of mechanical systems across our estate. This role has responsibility for pressure systems, medical and non-medical gas infrastructure, heating systems, refrigeration and F-Gas assets, oil-related plant, underground services including drainage and mains infrastructure, and domestic services maintenance.
Working closely with both the Mechanical Manager for Ventilation and the Water Manager, you will form part of a collaborative mechanical leadership team that ensures seamless and compliant service delivery across all specialist disciplines. You will act as the primary point of contact for mechanical engineering matters and provide expert guidance, rapid problem-solving, and strong operational assurance.
Key Responsibilities- You will oversee the delivery of all mechanical engineering services within your remit, ensuring they meet statutory, technical, and contractual requirements.
- This includes managing pressure systems and gas systems, leading on the operation and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, F-Gas equipment, oil-fired plant, and drainage infrastructure, and ensuring domestic services maintenance is completed effectively and aligned with the Water Manager where relevant.
- You will provide technical leadership and support to engineers and contractors, maintain robust documentation and safe systems of work, and ensure all activities are carried out safely and compliantly.
- You will also work collaboratively with other specialist managers to resolve operational issues, improve resilience, and support long-term asset planning across the estate.
We are seeking an experienced mechanical professional with an HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and a strong background in pressure systems, heating, gas systems, refrigeration/F-Gas, and wider building services. You should be committed to ongoing professional development, confident in leading teams and solving technical challenges, and able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A strong focus on safety, compliance, and customer service is essential.
