A committed, flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a man with a low immune system and poor mobility, who has become isolated to engage in activities that help relieve social isolation and promote continued independent living. This may include trips out, conversation over tea, or assisting with hobbies such as 3D printing. Part of the role is to encourage healthy eating and ensure hydration. Use of a car is essential. Hours are flexible as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme to enable the client to manage their support independently.
Responsibilities
- Support the client to maintain wellbeing.
- Support and encourage activities of interest and social engagement.
- Support him to access the community.
- Assist with light household tasks.
- Arrange and attend appointments with the client as needed.
- Support him to remain living at home.
- Keep accurate timesheets and records of tasks completed.
- Perform any other reasonable duties requested from time to time.

This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of an individual employer. You will be employed by that individual and not Ceredigion County Council. To apply, please complete the application form. The appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check at no cost to the applicant. If you have an online update DBS, you may be shortlisted quicker by updating your DBS via the government DBS update service. Two satisfactory references may be requested. There is a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months. Wages are paid in arrears on a 4-weekly basis once a valid National Insurance number is provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK; document checks will be conducted prior to commencement. You will receive annual leave and other statutory entitlements, details of which will be in your contract. A Personal Assistant Handbook will be issued on commencement. Mandatory training identified as relevant to this post will be provided at the employer’s expense; failure to attend may result in withdrawal of the employment offer.
