About the Role

We are supporting our client in the recruitment of a Design Authority to join their Development team. This role provides end‑to‑end technical ownership of complex mechanical systems, covering concept design, development, qualification, production support and customer interface.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and owning designs through the full engineering lifecycle
  • Managing design evolution to meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Leading DFMEAs, formal design reviews and technical approvals
  • Specifying, overseeing and reporting on test and trial programmes
  • Acting as the primary technical interface with customers and suppliers

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Physics or related discipline
  • Experience working in an engineering development or design environment
  • Strong grounding in materials, stress, manufacturing and core engineering principles
  • Experience with regulated or safety‑critical products
  • Ability to communicate complex technical content clearly and effectively

Desirable Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
  • DFMEA and Design for Manufacture / Cost experience
  • Exposure to EN9100 or quality‑driven engineering environments
  • Hands‑on testing, trials or hardware assessment experience
