About the role
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Deputy Production Manager will support the smooth and efficient day‑to‑day running of the production operation, ensuring production targets are met, standards maintained, and teams effectively managed.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the production team to meet customer order deadlines and specifications.
- Prepare daily and weekly production cost reports and manage packaging stock for availability and efficiency.
- Maintain facility operation in alignment with Health & Safety at Work regulations and Food Safety, Legality & Quality standards, including BRC compliance.
- Oversee cleaning schedules for buildings and equipment, ensuring machinery is properly maintained and cleaned.
- In the absence of the Production Manager, conduct training, return‑to‑work interviews, annual appraisals, disciplinary meetings, and basic conflict management.
Qualifications
- Experience as a production supervisor, team leader or assistant manager in fresh produce or FMCG food manufacturing.
- Ability to manage large teams, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, highly organised, KPI‑driven, with excellent attention to detail.
- Team‑player attitude, motivated to build positive relationships and drive performance through people.
Benefits & Working conditions
- Competitive salary £45,000‑£50,000, depending on experience.
- Accommodation provided where required.
- Working hours: 7:00 am‑5:00 pm, five days a week during off‑peak seasons and six days during peak, including one weekend day.
- Location: Worcestershire, commutable from Stratford‑upon‑Avon, Tewkesbury, Chipping Campden, Evesham, Cheltenham, Worcester, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Cirencester, Malvern and surrounding areas.
