Responsibilities

  • Provide a timely and effective service to production on all webs and conveyors, ensuring safety, quality, and hygiene standards are met.
  • Additional duties include site service checks, record keeping, and general offline maintenance.
  • Carry out planned web/conveyor repair/renewal.
  • Attend and repair webbing breakdowns on all lines.
  • Carry out remedial work and plan weekend activities.
  • Obtain prices for replacement stock and repairs.
  • Carry out monthly web stock count.
  • Carry out tracking system and roller repairs.
  • Conduct engineering service checks/repairs, report findings, and fill out log of activities.
  • Proactively prevent webbing/conveyor failures and improve overall equipment performance by generating and implementing ideas and modifications.
  • Provide a service that meets food safety standards while maintaining housekeeping and personal hygiene standards.
  • Maintain and help improve health and safety standards, ensuring a safe work environment by eliminating, minimizing and controlling risks.
  • Cooperate with contractors and ensure their adherence to site rules, health and safety, and food safety standards.
  • Responsible for general day-to-day offline maintenance tasks required for the site, especially those related to audits.
  • Undertake training as required to further enhance skills and knowledge, ensuring effective and efficient support to front-line operations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to operators on the utilisation and operation of webbing.
  • Identify performance issues and implement appropriate solutions through problem-solving skills, tools, and techniques in liaison with the Area Engineering Manager.
  • Maximise the use of labour and skills by being flexible in work allocation and scheduling within the team.
  • Prioritise workload for the overall benefit of site performance, consulting appropriate personnel.
  • Work to agreed deadlines where necessary.
  • Work under departmental and site KPI guidance to maximise business performance.

Key Ingredients Needed for the Role

  • Level 2 NVQ – Performing Engineering Operations (or willingness to undertake).
  • Good standard of education (numeracy and literacy) – GCSE English & Maths (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to undertake).
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a Process Operator or in webbing repairs, renewals, vulcanising (desirable).
  • Experience in general factory maintenance (desirable).
  • Experience using computers and associated software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
