As a Nurse within ED you will be part of a brilliant, friendly, hard‑working team who strive for excellence and support each other. The job role is primarily looking after the needs of adults, children and their families using a holistic approach. You will identify health and wellbeing needs using assessment skills, prioritise care and provide excellent standards of treatment to patients and their families or carers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patient nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate care according to changing health‑care needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and agencies to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Involve patients, relatives or carers in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support to aid understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepare the clinical area for safe practice, maintain cleanliness, ready materials and equipment for use, and clear away afterwards.
  • Provide escort and transfer for patients as directed by the multidisciplinary team.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
  • Collect, collate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Provide clinical expertise, advice and guidance in a specialist area of clinical practice to improve overall care delivered by the team.
  • Support and advise junior colleagues, students and unqualified staff, and supervise nursing care to ensure safe practice at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient care is coordinated.
  • Manage the flow of patients through ED, prioritising care and responding to emergency situations.
