An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sexual Health nurse to join our friendly, enthusiastic and committed team within the axess Cheshire East Sexual Health department based in Crewe.
Experienced RGNs who have both/either a contraception (DFSRH or equivalent) and STI qualification (STIF Intermediate) will be considered. The successful applicant will be required to deliver patient care and manage all areas within the department, demonstrating professionalism, clinical expertise with excellent communication skills in all aspects of their work.
The work is varied and includes:
- Conducting consultations for both contraception and STI screening.
- Working from PGD to dispense both contraceptive and STI treatments.
- STI management and health advising & results management.
- The provision of LARC methods including sub dermal implant insertion.
- The care and management of patients living with HIV.
This role is based in the Crewe clinic; however, it may require travel to other clinics within the East Cheshire area. Working pattern will also include evenings.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will undertake independent consultations with clients, including assessing, monitoring and evaluating individual clientβs contraceptive and sexual health needs, including referral to other Health Professionals as required. You will issue methods of contraception according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols, provide STI screening and treatment according to Patient Group directions & clinical protocols, and encourage partners' attendance and treatment when necessary. Additionally, you will provide advice and cytology screening as appropriate, according to local policies.
You will take responsibility for the smooth running of the day-to-day management of the sexual health service. For a full list of duties, please refer to the attached job description and person specification.
