Lead for Neonatal Education and Development at the Neonatal Unit, Leighton Hospital. This 15‑bed Level 2 unit contains 3 Intensive Care cots, 4 High Dependency cots and 8 Special Care cots.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as specialist in education and practice development within neonatal education.
- Support the senior team—including Ward Manager, Matron and senior leadership—in developing and delivering evidence‑based care.
- Serve as a role model, maintaining up‑to‑date clinical knowledge and skills to demonstrate high standards of practice.
- Supervise staff and address performance concerns.
- Plan and organise workload autonomously with excellent organisational skills.
- Lead change management and identify/develop quality improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methods.
- Determine staff training and education needs and develop practice improvement plans.
- Maintain training records and compile reports.
- Provide clinical expertise, maintaining skills through regular 1:1 practice sessions.
- Coordinate the learning experience of pre‑registration student nurses and support practice assessors and supervisors.
- Partner with maternity services and educational institutions, acting as a link for educational support.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified neonatal nurse with specialty qualification.
- Experience supervising staff and addressing performance.
- Strong communication skills and clinical expertise.
- Experience in education, practice development or quality improvement within neonatal care.
- Computer skills for maintaining training records and compiling reports.
Work Hours & Salary
33.75 hours per week, Band 7.
