Salary: £24,784 pro rata per annum / £12.88 per hour

Contract Type: Permanent / Casual

Hours: Part time hours, part year working (36 weeks per year)

Location: Crewe Campus

We have various hours available as Learning Support Assistants (LSA) at our College. We provide support to learners across a variety of subjects including Art, Construction, Business, Protective Services, Sport, Catering, Hair & Beauty, Science, Healthcare, Travel & Tourism, to name a few. Support is offered either on a 1:1 basis or to a small group of learners.

Responsibilities

  • Note-taking
  • Demonstrating
  • Explaining in steps how to do a task set by the teacher
  • Joining college trips to support learners
  • Meeting and greeting a learner to help them into College and to their lessons
  • Using support strategies to keep a learner/learners focused on their learning
  • Creating or making adaptations to materials to help the learner access their learning/environment

Who you are / Key Skills

  • Experience of helping/coaching/supporting a person or people with special educational needs (SEN) and knowledge of effective strategies
  • Experience or exposure to Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, mobility/medical conditions, hearing/visual impairments, speech, language or communication needs, and other learning difficulties
  • Experience through friends/family, care roles, working in education/childcare/residential settings, youth/community groups, or teacher training practice
  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Good working standard of English and Maths, ideally GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of a wide range of additional needs and strategies to support them
  • Excellent organisational and digital literacy skills
  • Enhanced DBS check
