Join an award-winning service delivering some of the most memorable moments in people’s lives. We are seeking an exceptional Ceremonies Officer to support our growing programme of more than 3,000 ceremonies each year and to help shape the future of our high-profile Registration Service.

About you

In this pivotal role, you will guide couples through the legal requirements of marriage and civil partnership, ensuring every ceremony is compliant, well-managed, and delivered to the highest standard. From the first enquiry to the final statutory documentation, you will be a reassuring and knowledgeable presence at every stage. You will also play an active role in delivering ceremonies across Cheshire East and representing the service at promotional events showcasing our commitment to providing outstanding, personalised experiences.

As a key member of the registration team, the role includes attesting notices of marriage and civil partnership and, when required, undertaking the statutory responsibilities associated with registering births and deaths. Although based at the Register Office in Crewe, the role requires travel throughout the district; unrestricted use of a car is essential. This is a full-time office-based role worked across a compressed 9-day fortnight (Monday–Friday). To meet service demand, you will also be part of our dedicated ceremonies team rota, attending ceremonies on weekends and Bank Holidays for which time in lieu will be given.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A friendly, reassuring manner, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care

Training will be provided on our bespoke software systems. Expertise in Microsoft Office is essential.
