The purpose of the role will be to support the Animal Health and Welfare Team in delivering statutory duties including animal health, welfare, animal welfare licensing, identification, movement control, animal by-products and enforcement. The apprentice will gain practical experience in regulatory work while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of records and database systems
  • Production of correspondence
  • Assisting officers during inspections at livestock and animal welfare licensed premises
  • Supporting the triage and recording of complaints
  • Liaising with service users
  • Providing advice
  • Responding to complaints
  • Assisting with evidence gathering for potential enforcement action
  • Visiting farms, kennels, stables and other rural premises
