Join Cheshire East’s Highway Client Team to manage the council’s Highway Service Contract and collaborate with our service provider to improve highway services in the borough.
Key Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day commercial management of the contract with the Highways service provider, including cost management, issuing task orders and instructions, and responding to early warning notices and compensation events.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and deliver value for money for the Council.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation and value‑for‑money in partnership with the service provider.
- Develop time and cost related performance measures with the wider Highway Client Team and report on any identified issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC or higher or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Relevant business or commercial engineering background (e.g. quantity surveying), delivering highway or engineering services.
- Experience in managing commercial contracts (including NEC) and providing assurance.
- Understanding of construction management principles, broad technical and specialist knowledge, and commercial awareness.
- High level of numeracy, analytical thinking, and ability to work with large data samples to create meaningful management information.
- Good written and oral communication skills, able to converse comfortably with customers, partners and services providers.
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to travel throughout the Borough.
