The predicted salary is between 55355 - 60000 £ per year.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultant with paediatric sub‑specialty to work at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. The role involves delivering first‑class emergency care in a designated trauma unit, contributing to the design of a new Emergency Centre, and providing clinical leadership and teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Join the Consultant rota and work with the Emergency Medicine Team to provide high‑quality clinical care.
  • Supervise and teach junior medical and nursing staff, and see patients personally.
  • Take an appropriate share of the management and administrative workload of both departments.
  • Plan and develop the Emergency Medicine service, including leading the development of Paediatric Emergency services across both sites.
  • Have support and develop specialist interests within Emergency Medicine.
  • Participate in developing Paediatric Emergency Medicine service treatment protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with other specialties, particularly paediatric colleagues, and attend regular clinical meetings and postgraduate activities.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota on an equal basis with Consultant colleagues, ensuring appropriate emergency services outside normal working hours.

Job Plan

The full‑time job plan will be based on a 10‑PA working week. It will cover 7.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care and 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) including CPD, audit, teaching and research. The plan will be reviewed annually and may be adjusted as required.
