Consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthesia Employer: NHS Jobs Location: Gloucester, GL10 3NN Pay: £113,565.00 to £150,569.00 per year Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Disability Confident: No Closing Date: 02/07/2026 About this job Clinical Responsibilities / Key Responsibilities * To assess and review patients and perform procedures as required * To support the clinical decision making of medical and nursing staff * To ensure timely and effective communication with primary care colleagues, including using the Trusts electronic discharge summary system * To provide on‑call support out of hours * To attend the department out of hours as per agreed protocols * To remain contactable and available when on call * Independently and safely conduct anaesthesia for a range of surgical specialties across any of the sites supported by GHNHSFT Professional Development, Education and Training * Provide conditions for improved training opportunities in line with national and local recommendations arising out of MMC and related requirements * Participate in the undergraduate teaching programme * Assist and participate with the development of postgraduate training for F1s, F2s, core trainees, StRs and other staff as appropriate Management and Leadership * Evidence of participation in Audit and Clinical Governance programmes * Ability to manage and lead a clinical team * Planning and organisation skills * Evidence of effective team working * Ability to take responsibility, show leadership and make decisions * Use non‑judgemental approach to patients and colleagues regardless of sexuality, ethnicity, disability, religious beliefs or financial status * Flexible and resilient * Initiative, drive and enthusiasm Research and Development * Ability to appraise research critically and apply research outcomes to clinical and organisational problems * Ability to supervise junior staff undertaking research projects Communications and Working Relationships * Work within the framework of team decisions * Take a whole‑systems approach to working with the wider hospital and health community * Show initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility Clinical Governance * Undertake all work in accordance with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust procedures and operating policies * Adhere to the Trusts Adverse Clinical Incident Policy #J-18808-Ljbffr
