We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team based at the adult histopathology department at Wythenshawe Hospital (MFT Wythenshawe). This 10‑hour post (although less than full‑time applicants will be considered) will join the histopathology reporting team with a predominant contribution to dermatopathology, although an additional specialty will be considered. Contribution to each subspeciality will be discussed with the successful appointee based on expertise and service requirements. Other areas of interest that would support service needs include cardio‑thoracic and gastrointestinal pathology.
You will join a team of 18 other substantive consultants in the Histopathology Department at Wythenshawe Hospital. The main responsibilities of this post would be:
- Be responsible for providing sub‑specialised histopathology for its clinical users (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and local general practices). This may include review of slides of patients who are referred in to MFT for further investigation or treatment from other hospitals.
- Participate in cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in line with areas of sub‑specialisation which may involve travel to other sites.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
- Teach histopathology to allied health professionals.
