About the Role
TeacherActive is seeking experienced Complex Needs Teachers to work in a specialist Liverpool setting that supports pupils with Autism, moderate learning difficulties, social and communication needs, and a range of associated complex needs. The school follows a holistic, highly personalised approach to education, offering pupils a balanced development pathway: academic learning, therapeutic input, and life-skills development. The environment is nurturing, structured, and supported by a strong multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across formal, semi-formal, and informal curriculum pathways.
- Plan personalised learning based on EHCP outcomes and ongoing assessment.
- Teach small groups and individual learners, promoting independence and functional skills.
- Work collaboratively with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Specialists, and wider staff.
- Embed therapeutic strategies and Positive Behaviour Support into daily teaching.
- Support personal development, communication, employability skills, and preparation for adulthood.
- Maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews, and communicate effectively with families and external agencies.
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong experience working with a range of SEND, including ASC, MLD, SLCN, SEMH, and complex needs.
- Clear understanding of formal, semi-formal, and informal curriculum design.
- Experience with personalised learning approaches, e.g. EQUALS, SCERTS, structured teaching, or bespoke curriculum models.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, resilience, and a positive, child‑centred mindset.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and reflective practice.
