Team: Cat Welfare Assurance

Location: Home‑based in the West Midlands (covering Staffordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire) with frequent travel and occasionally outside the region.

Work pattern: 35 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.

Salary: Up to £30,809.83 per annum.

Contract: Permanent.

This role requires an enhanced DBS check (including the Children’s Barred List).

Responsibilities

  • The Community Cat Welfare Advisor will build successful working relationships with volunteers in cat welfare roles.
  • Support volunteer branches by undertaking welfare support visits to fosterers.
  • Maintain accurate records using the welfare support system.
  • Produce annual branch welfare plans and help branches understand and adhere to our cat welfare policies.
  • Assist in the induction, training and ongoing support of volunteer Cat Welfare Team Leaders and Fosterers.
  • Support branches to reduce the time from admission to adoption.
  • Work closely with other Cats Protection teams, including Branch Development Managers, Field Veterinary Officers, Veterinary and Learning & Development teams, to deliver initiatives that promote good cat welfare and share best practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in the animal welfare or volunteering sectors.
  • Experience in a compliance‑driven environment.
  • Aptitude for working with processes and systems.
  • Experience in a branch or confederated volunteer‑led structure.
  • Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, Training Assessment and Quality Assurance (D32/33) or equivalent.
  • Ability to produce reports using Microsoft Office to a high standard.
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to an own vehicle.
  • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings.
