It is envisaged that the successful candidate will develop skills to pursue a career in adult or paediatric limb reconstruction. The weekly programme is flexible and the emphasis is on the involvement in the management of patients with limb injuries as well as the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired limb deformity. This is a 6 month fixed term. Suitable applicants need to be ST8/post-CCT. The post holder will attend up to 9 operating sessions per week and be involved in the clinic and ward management of limb reconstruction patients. The post holder will also liaise with the staff on the unit and participate in the planning, organisation and postoperative care of unit patients. There is an emphasis on using Ilizarov techniques and the Taylor Spatial Frame, with a significant proportion of patients treated with internal fixation. Opportunities exist to undertake surgery on peri‑articular fractures and other complex primary trauma, using cutting‑edge techniques pioneered in the unit. The successful candidate will take an active role in clinical research, teaching, and contributing to clinical papers and audit within the Limb Reconstruction Team.
