Overview
The post is a 12‑month Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine based at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust. It is a non‑training post but offers extensive clinical experience supervised by consultant medical staff, including training in thoracic ultrasound, pleural procedures, bronchoscopy, HDU level respiratory care and sub‑specialty respiratory medicine such as ILD, pleural disease, complex airways, complex infection and lung cancer.
Responsibilities
- Act as an integrated member of the Respiratory Medicine team.
- Support diagnosis and care for respiratory patients.
- Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
- Undertake supervised outpatient clinics.
- Provide ad hoc advice for in‑patients.
- Participate in audit, quality improvement and research activities.
- Manage in‑reach respiratory referrals under close consultant supervision.
- Participate in the on‑call medical registrar rota.
Qualifications
- Minimum 12 months of experience in Respiratory Medicine.
- Ability to work at registrar‑grade level.
- Full MRCP(UK) or equivalent qualification.
- Interest in pursuing a career in Respiratory or general medicine.
