We are seeking to appoint 4 Clinical Education Fellows in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. During this 12 month programme, we aim to provide the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and experience for successful applications to Core Surgical Training or ST3 via CREST with a completed PG Cert in Medical Education.
The successful candidate(s) will spend 50% of their time in clinical work including on call, ward and theatre work at an appropriate level. The remaining 50% of the time includes delivery of a teaching programme, experience of clinical supervision, CV building, logbook development and prepping applications for CST or ST3 (via CREST). The role includes an on-call full shift (band 2B during clinical block). Study leave is factored into the teaching block (can be taken during clinical block for clinical time in lieu). Annual leave should be taken in equal proportion between the clinical and teaching blocks.

Prior teaching experience is not a prerequisite. This post is aimed at giving doctors the opportunity to develop and strengthen these skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment in preparation for application to higher surgical training. The successful candidates will also have the opportunity:
- To gain practical experience in trauma and orthopaedics through ward work, outpatient clinics, elective and trauma theatre for inpatients and day cases and on call for adult and paediatric trauma.
- Spend protected time in outpatient and theatre assisting and where appropriate operate under supervision.
- Maintain and develop a portfolio - successful candidates will have a nominated supervisor and will be encouraged to maintain and develop their portfolios through miniCEXs, CBDs and DOPs on the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Project website.
