Job Overview

Location: Chepstow, NP16 6UP

Shift times: Monday - Friday 06:00 - 16:30

No Weekends

Pay Rate: £15.65 per hour

Contract: Temp to permanent after 12 weeks

This role is temp to perm for the ideal candidate.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Safely operate the delivery vehicle, adhering to business standards and protocols.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with VOSA regulations.
  • Perform white goods deliveries, accompanied by a driver’s mate.
  • Execute two types of deliveries: home deliveries and kerbside deliveries.
  • For home deliveries, transport items to the customer’s room of choice, including carrying items to homes that may be several stories high.
  • For kerbside deliveries, hand off items directly to individuals on building sites.
  • Deliver items such as white goods (e.g., dishwashers, washing machines, fridges), kitchen units, and worktops.
  • Handle multidrop deliveries, with the number of stops varying daily.
  • Use a handheld scanner and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • The presence of a driver’s mate depends on the delivery type; assistance is usually available on-site for kerbside deliveries.
  • Physical fitness is essential for this role due to the nature of the work.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive demeanour are required for direct interaction with customers.

Qualifications:

  • HGV 2 licence, Digital Tachograph Card, Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • No more than six penalty points on your licence and no DD, DR, IN or CD endorsements.
  • Minimum 6 months Class 2 experience
  • A valid CPC and Digital Tacho card.
  • Delivery experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK road network.
