We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scrub Team Leader to join our dedicated Orthopaedic Surgical Teams at Chorley and District Hospital. The role involves leading a specialist team within Orthopaedic theatres, ensuring the highest standards of peri‑operative care and delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients undergoing Orthopaedic surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate theatre activity, support junior staff, and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high‑quality care.
  • Ensure planning, delivery and evaluation of care meets personalised health and wellbeing needs of patients in line with Trust values, HCPC and NMC professional frameworks.
  • Maintain a well‑organised and safe environment; monitor and uphold standards of care and professional practice.
  • Act as a role‑model, encouraging and supporting professional development of team members and students.
  • Provide clinical supervision and direction for all colleagues and students, helping them reach their full potential.
  • Assist the Clinical Manager with safe and effective management of the service, including staff, facilities and associated systems.
  • Communicate relevant information to the MDT internally and with external organisations to ensure seamless care.
  • Identify potential bottlenecks and facilitate smooth patient flow through the department.
  • Proactively manage risk, maintain patient safety, and comply with health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Promote patient education, health promotion, and equality in care by recognising and respecting the needs and choices of individuals.
  • Ensure the environment of care is safe, well‑equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Participate in education and training of junior staff, encouraging professional growth and development.
  • Maintain and develop own professional competence and extend knowledge and skills within the scope of the role and professional practice.
  • Demonstrate and maintain competence in anaesthetic practice (ODP’s).
