We are looking for a junior Design Estimator with a background in the Fire & Security industry to join our client’s growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long‑term career in Fire & Security design. We are looking for someone who understands fire and security systems. Whilst they are a small business, their projects are anything but small. You will be involved in a wide range of commercial and industrial projects, designing systems that meet client requirements, industry standards, and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical drawings and system layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Create and maintain project documentation and design files.
  • Assist with the preparation of fire and security system designs.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Identify design considerations, potential issues, and areas requiring further information.
  • Support the production of technical submissions and project documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers, engineers, project managers, and clients when required.
  • Ensure project records and documentation are accurate and up to date.
  • Learn industry standards and best practices for Fire Alarms, CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarm Systems.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to develop your technical and commercial knowledge.

What We're Looking For – Essential

  • Experience within the Fire & Security industry.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Ideal Background

  • Currently working as a Fire & Security Engineer looking to move into a design-based office role.
  • Around 12 months' experience in a design, estimating, CAD, or technical support role within the Fire & Security industry.
