Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Band 5 mental health nurse with a specialist interest in working with young people with eating disorders. This position will be based on Sapphire Ward at Ancora House, a 4-bedded ward with a Sapphire Day Service attached. The ward is a newly opened unit that supports young people aged 13-18 years who require inpatient treatment across Cheshire and Merseyside. It is part of the Tier 4 Specialist Eating Disorder Service, offering intensive inpatient, outpatient and day service provision.
The post holder will develop and promote a therapeutic relationship with service users and will be key in the day-to-day running of the service and coordination within the multidisciplinary team. It will involve days, nights and weekend shift patterns.
Main duties of the job
The main duties include supporting and promoting the maintenance of a team concept, working within a multidisciplinary framework, using specific skills and expertise in a professional manner which places the patient at the centre of all negotiations and enhances/develops professionals’ working practices. Specific responsibilities expect a combination of practical meal support, physical health reviews, risk assessment and delivery of specialist interventions.

- Excellent communicator verbally and written work.
- Well-developed, research-based knowledge and practical nursing skills.
- Understanding of basic management principles, as the post may involve taking charge of the service occasionally.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- A positive approach towards use of information technology.
Experience
- 1st level mental health trained nurse, with up-to-date knowledge of current mental health legislation.
- Experience of working with adults with a Learning Disability.
- Experience of carrying out clinical supervision.
- Experience of working in a Mental Health setting.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year pro rata for part time.
