A skilled Manual Machinist is required to support an established engineering manufacturing operation based in the Cheddar area. The role involves operating manual XYZ lathes and milling machines to manufacture and repair components used in electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and fans. You will be working closely with engineering colleagues; the machinist will assist in fault diagnosis and determine appropriate repair methods for a range of mechanical systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Producing work to specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Following all safety procedures.
- Maintaining a clean and well-organised workshop.
The Package:
- GBP15 per hour - GBP40k overall earnings.
- Day shifts β 8am β 5pm Monday to Friday.
- Enhanced Overtime rates and On call bonuses.
- Private Healthcare.
- 25 days + Bank holidays.

Ideal Experience Required:
- Experience with Conventional Machines: Skilled in operating manual lathes and milling machines for precision machining tasks.
- XYZ Turning experience.
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc).
- Experience with welding and balancing would be beneficial.
- Reading Technical Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings to manufacture or repair components to specification.
- Machining to Fine Tolerances.
- Experience with using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, callipers) to ensure accuracy and quality.
