About the Role
SEARCH are seeking an experienced Groundworks Civil Project Manager to oversee enabling and civil works on a major substation development project in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day delivery of groundworks and civil engineering packages on site
- Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant, and material requirements
- Ensure works are delivered in line with programme milestones and commercial objectives
- Oversee site health & safety compliance and enforce safe systems of work
- Liaise with design teams, consultants, utilities, and stakeholders
- Chair and attend progress meetings, reporting on programme, risks, and productivity
- Monitor quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with specifications
- Review RAMS, permits, and construction methodologies
- Identify and mitigate project risks and delays
- Support commercial teams with valuations, variations, and cost control
- Maintain accurate project records and reporting documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering groundworks and civils packages within the power, utilities, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
- Strong knowledge of substation or energy infrastructure projects preferred
- Experience managing earthworks, drainage, ducting, reinforced concrete, foundations, and external works
- SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certification essential
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and fast-paced site activities
- Excellent understanding of HSEQ standards and CDM regulations
- Full UK passport & driving licence
- Previous experience on National Grid or ICP projects desirable
- Temporary works coordination experience desirable
- Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management desirable
- NEC contract awareness desirable
