We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Deputy Shop Manager, who loves working with people, to work 7.5 hours per week (Sundays only) at our well‑established shop in Cardigan, located at the heart of the local community.
Our Cardigan shop has been a valued part of the busy High Street for over 20 years and is part of a long‑standing connection to the charity, reflected in the team’s ongoing dedication.
We are relocating to a larger premises on the High Street and look forward to the new opportunities this will bring for community engagement and growth.
About the role
As a Deputy Shop Manager you will support the Store Manager to maximise income and contribution of the shop by meeting KPIs and overseeing all aspects of day‑to‑day operations, including stock management, visual merchandising, Gift Aid processes, maintaining excellent shop standards and delivering excellent customer service.
You will lead and develop a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring procedural compliance, promoting Tŷ Hafan’s values and acting as an ambassador within the local community.
You will contribute to wider charity initiatives, maintain strong communication with central teams, and support the organisation’s income‑generation goals by ensuring a commercially effective, safe, and welcoming shop environment.
You will be required to work 3 days per week Monday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
About you
We are looking for someone with retail or customer‑facing experience who can support the Store Manager in delivering targets and objectives.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and strong organisational skills.
- Drive to provide excellent service and share responsibility for the performance of the shop.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and compassion for customers, volunteers, colleagues, and the local community.
- Personable, professional, warm and enthusiastic.
- Ability to lead by example, motivate and grow the volunteer team and create a positive, inclusive and fun team culture.
- Attention to detail and flair for an inviting, commercial shop floor.
- Comfortable working at pace, managing multiple tasks, and adapting to the needs of the day.
- Flexible, reliable, ownership, confident decision‑making and following procedures, keeping the shop safe, compliant and running smoothly.
- Passionate about charity retail’s role in sustainability, community engagement and raising vital funds.
