A little about myself: I am a friendly lady living in the area of Wenvoe. I have M.E and am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to assist me at home with day-to-day tasks, enabling me to remain independent. My condition fluctuates a lot; sometimes I am bedridden, at other times I can move around slowly but spend a lot of time resting. I am housebound the majority of the time. Sometimes I barely have the energy to talk or it is painful to speak due to severe sore throats, and I also suffer from hemiplegic migraines. I am looking for someone who understands and appreciates this and can be patient with my fluctuating needs.

Purpose of the job: I am looking for a PA to join my existing team. Assisting me with household chores, cleaning, and keeping my household running smoothly to help me maintain my independence. There is also a small amount of personal care required, on occasion to help prepare healthy meals and organise meal plans with me.

Hours of work: Up to 14 hours per week, to be discussed more at interview.

Rates of pay: £14.00 per hour weekday, £14.50 per hour weekend.

Tasks can include:

  • Assisting me to prepare and cook fresh meals
  • General cleaning after use of kitchen
  • Domestic tasks as required: ironing, laundry, cleaning, cooking
  • Shopping with or without me if necessary based on my meal planning for that week
  • Accompanying me out socially when required
  • Taking me to appointments
  • Personal care
  • Any other reasonable tasks as and when required

  • Someone who enjoys supporting me with cooking
  • Someone who has a good understanding of food hygiene
  • Someone who is able to help me prepare a nutritious meal with fresh ingredients, including chopping ingredients, washing surfaces, washing dishes
  • Someone who can empathise and understands my condition
  • Someone who is patient and quietly spoken
  • Someone who doesn’t mind not wearing perfume as I am chemically sensitive and this can trigger migraines
  • A car owner/driver that would be confident driving my car

About the job: Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a 4-weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check, which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
