As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the school’s Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo) to provide tailored support to pupils who require additional academic, emotional, and behavioural support throughout the school day. You may support students on a 1:1 basis or within small group settings, helping them remain engaged in lessons, develop social skills, regulate emotions, and build confidence within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with Autism (ASD) and ADHD in lessons and around the school
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated learning
  • Promoting positive behaviour management strategies
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and communication skills
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff
  • Providing consistent support in line with individual learning plans

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, or support work is advantageous
  • A passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential
