Retail Team Leader Salary: Up to £31,824 per annum + £290 per month car allowance Location: Cardiff Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7, Monday-Sunday Hours: Up to 48 hours per week, predominantly evening and night shifts Contract: Full-time, permanent The Role As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of stock counters to deliver accurate, efficient and professional stocktaking services across a range of retail and commercial customer sites.

You will take ownership of the stocktake from arrival through to completion, ensuring that company and customer procedures are followed, agreed timescales are met and the highest standards of accuracy, productivity and customer service are maintained.

This is a mobile and hands-on role, with travel to different customer locations each day.

You will need to be flexible regarding working hours and locations, and there may be occasions where overnight stays away from home are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and support stocktaking teams on customer sites.
  • Ensure stocktakes are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor team productivity and take appropriate action if performance falls below expectations.
  • Ensure all company and customer processes, procedures and health & safety requirements are followed.
  • Maintain a professional approach and always deliver excellent customer service.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer representatives while on site.
  • Communicate effectively with both team members and customer management.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues promptly, escalating where appropriate.
  • Ensure team members understand their responsibilities and maintain appropriate standards of conduct and performance.
  • Complete all required stocktake administration, reporting and sign-off accurately.
  • Work flexibly across different customer locations and adapt to changing operational requirements.

Person Specification

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Previous experience of supervising or leading a team is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional approach.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused and effective under pressure.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using digital systems.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, locations and operational requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Working Environment The role involves working across a variety of retail stores, warehouses and other customer premises.

You should be comfortable working in different environments and adapting to the requirements of each site.

The role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as occasional use of step stools and ladders.

Some assignments may require access to ground-level and high-level stock within large retail or warehouse environments.

Due to the nature of the role, evening, night and early-morning working will be required, including weekend work as part of the 5-in-7-day working pattern.

Occasional overnight stays away from home may also be necessary.
