We are excited to offer a Permanent Plumber role to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG. At Amey, we support His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons across 60 secure premises in England and Wales. The standard hours are 39 hours per week (8:00am‑5:00pm, Monday‑Friday with 1‑hour lunch) and include a 1 in 3 weekend shift pattern with a 15% allowance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
  • Perform statutory works on time and in compliance.
  • Conduct routine and non‑routine maintenance, including fault finding and repairs.
  • Inspect, sample water, and assess risks to maintain system integrity.
  • Repair main water supply and address life‑expired equipment.
  • Monitor the BMS system to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support zero‑carbon initiatives and contribute to sustainability goals.
  • Handle additional tasks as directed by your line manager, including working at height and in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate trade qualification (Level 3) and experience operating light plant.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating preferred; Level 2 may be considered.
  • Desirable: Legionella Control (L8) and experience in a commercial environment.
  • Prison Security Clearance required (Amey will support you through this process).
