We are recruiting Children’s Support Workers to join our newest residential children’s service based in Radyr. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new team and contribute to shaping a safe, nurturing, and supportive home environment for the young people in our care. The service is a 4-bedroom home, thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of the children and young people who live there. The home includes a self-contained area for one individual, providing a more independent living space while still benefiting from the support and structure of a residential setting. The home aims to offer a warm, stable, and therapeutic environment where young people can feel safe, build positive relationships, and work towards achieving their personal goals.
We offer full time hours covering evenings, weekends, bank holidays, wake-in and sleep-in duties. Shift patterns require full flexibility including typically 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, 9:45 PM–9:00 AM. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for the teenagers and adults in our care by providing compassionate, person-centred support. We specialise in supporting children and adults with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder, acquired brain injury and mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting individuals where necessary with personal care needs, including washing/bathing, toileting, dressing/undressing, mobility and transport.
- Helping the individuals in our care to make their own choices and supporting them to carry out activities within and outside of the home, e.g., cooking, cleaning, shopping, going to the gym, days out, engaging in a range of social and leisure activities.
- Acting as an advocate promoting individuals’ wellbeing, safety and quality of life.
- Cleaning duties as part of the team, undertaking general domestic chores, or supporting individuals to carry out such duties.
- Helping with menu planning, shopping and cooking for the home.
- Administering medication to individuals following appropriate training and company procedures.
- Carrying out health & safety checks as necessary.
- Following care and management guidelines and working in line with company policies and procedures.
- Completing documentation and keeping records in accordance with company policy.
- Other reasonable tasks as required within the grade of the job.
- Essential:
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Physically fit to meet demands of the post
- Minimum age 21 and able to work in children’s homes
- Prepared to learn
- Desirable:
- Care experience with those with learning disabilities
- Valid driver’s licence and driving experience
- Relevant QCF qualifications
- Full induction package and ongoing training leading to QCF qualifications.

- 28 days holiday (pro rata if part-time, includes bank holidays) with an annual increase after 2 years service to a maximum of 33 days per annum.
