I am a chatty lady living in Pontprennau area of Cardiff who has cerebral palsy and is visually impaired. I use an electric wheelchair to get around and all physical transfers are done via a ceiling track hoist. I need full assistance with personal care and dressing. Assistance is required with housework, food preparation and all aspects of daily living, including accessing the wider community. I am a lively, social outgoing lady who enjoys music, theatre, cinema, and socialising with family and friends. I have lived in my own home since 2005 in 24‑hour care.

Purpose of the Job

As well as full personal care I need support with activities within my home and accessing the wider community.

Place of Work

I live in Pontprennau, Cardiff, in 24‑hour care supported by my PAs.

Hours of Work

Relief to cover annual leave and sickness cover. Morning shifts are 7 am to 3 pm. Afternoon shifts are 3 pm to 11 pm with an overnight stay until 7 am the following morning.

Rate of Pay

£13.25 (day), £102.50 (sleep‑in)

Tasks involved

  • Full personal care

  • Household duties including laundry and cleaning
  • Accompanying me to social activities or appointments when needed

About the Job

Although a part‑time role, this requires a National Insurance number and a National Insurance card to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on submission of a payslip by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks of paid holiday (pro rata). A DBS check may be required at no expense to you.
