Personal assistant is required for a happy, playful 13-year‑old boy with a diagnosis of learning disability and autism, living in Thornhill. His parents are looking for someone to support him at home and to take him out and about in the community (parks, walks, bus, train). He has some words but mainly communicates using his device.
HOURS OF WORK
Various and flexible to suit (permanent and casual). At the moment during term time the hours are on a Friday after school and/or on a Saturday or Sunday, to be discussed. Also parents are able to fund occasional overnight stays. Extra hours are also available during the school holidays.
RATE OF PAY
£14.80
TASKS INVOLVED
Support him out in the community to activities he enjoys. Ensure safety at all times; he has no sense of danger and road awareness, so must be supervised.

ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part‑time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Support cannot be carried out in the personal assistant’s own home.
