Bank Ambulance care assistant in Cardiff

The Ambulance Care Assistant works with a crewmate in both emergency and non‑emergency settings, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care for each patient.

• Respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls together with a crewmate, delivering high‑quality care at all times.
• Safely transfer patients and manage specialist equipment and manual handling skills.
• Accurately complete documentation for patients, vehicles and equipment, submitting it to management as required.
• Provide treatment within your assessed ability following current best practice (e.g., IHCD & JRCALC).
• Collect relevant information from carers or others and report to healthcare professionals while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Report social and environmental concerns to the appropriate person or body.
• Participate in cleaning routines for vehicles, equipment and garaging facilities to meet infection control standards.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment checks at shift start and during work to ensure readiness.
• Report defects or damage in line with company policies and procedures.
• Attend CPD events and maintain a personal development portfolio, keeping competence in relevant skills and knowledge.
• Perform any duties commensurate with responsibility level and skill set.

• Minimum of 6 months’ health & social care experience in care homes, hospitals or emergency front‑line settings.
• Full UK manual driving licence, no more than 6 penalty points.
• Minimum of 12 months driving experience since obtaining a UK licence.
• Physically fit to perform the physical demands of the role.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity for clear communication at all levels.
• Ability to complete clinical documentation to required standard.
• Experience working in an emergency ambulance environment.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time and resources efficiently.
• Commitment to delivering a high‑quality patient experience and ensuring user satisfaction.
• Team‑working ability and initiative when needed.
• Willingness to adapt and learn new skills.

• Valid FRECs (3) qualification.

This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service application.
