About this job
This role is to support a 21-year-old individual in building independence and confidence. The PA will assist with planning and cooking meals, accessing online courses, and engaging in community activities using either a car or public transport.
Duties include:
- Eating and drinking assistance
- Other relevant duties as required
- Administration
- Cooking
- Transportation
- Companionship
The PA will help the individual shop for ingredients, access education and courses to build employable skills, and explore new places to enhance independence and confidence. Time management skills would be beneficial.
Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality

- Able to follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy, and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient with excellent interpersonal skills

The PA should have knowledge about health needs related to food and nutrition. They need to be creative and patient, allowing the individual to get to know them at their own pace. The PA should also be able to recognise when the individual feels overwhelmed and provide appropriate support.
Additional requirements:
- Non-smoker preferred or willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
- Must have the right to work in the UK

If successful, the PA will be engaged directly or employed by the individual employer, not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on suitability and agreement with the employer.
