The clinical excellence lead role focuses on elevating clinical and quality standards across two adult acute in‑patient wards. The role requires close collaboration with Ward Managers and the leadership team to champion and embed a culture of best practice.
Responsibilities
- Act as a learning leader, identifying and delivering clinical and social skills training to the nursing team to ensure continuous practice improvement.
- Collaborate with the borough Head of Quality and Acute Service Manager to develop quality improvement plans and initiatives specifically for the adult acute in‑patient service line, and take a key role in delivering these plans.
- Lead and deliver sustainable projects within the adult acute in‑patient setting supporting the Trust’s ambitions to shape decisions with lived experience, engage and empower staff, and provide outstanding care.
- Ensure nursing practice is evidence‑based and aligns with NMC Code of Conduct, Mental Health Act, Community Care Legislation, and Pennine Care policies and procedures.
- Provide a forum for support and clinical supervision to the inpatient team, acting as a visible, proactive clinical leader and role model within the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical risk assessment, clinical governance activities, and service reviews, ensuring action plans are formulated and best practice shared.
- Maintain personal clinical credibility through updates, undertake clinical work to measure standards, identify areas of excellence, and support ward staff in complex case management.
- Act as a resource to all staff, promote research‑based practice, and lead audit activities to improve nursing practice and care standards.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to develop processes that ensure patients, their carers and families are directly involved in decisions affecting their care.
- Initiate patient‑focused interventions acknowledging diverse social, cultural, religious, and spiritual needs.
- Implement quality assurance, governance, and risk management strategies at ward level and monitor action plans arising from incident reporting.
