Overview
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well‑established engineering manufacturer that designs and builds high specification water treatment and filtration systems. This position offers the chance to take real ownership of design projects from concept through to manufacture, playing a key part in developing innovative solutions for industrial clients. You’ll be part of a friendly, technically experienced design team and will produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation to support both sales and project delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and produce reverse osmosis and water treatment plant designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software packages.
- Prepare detailed structural frame layouts, piping configurations, and pressure vessel assemblies, utilising a variety of design tools and CAD features.
- Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including manufacturing drawings, parts lists, and bills of materials, ensuring information flows accurately to the production teams.
- Generate precise machining and fabrication drawings for internal workshops, supporting both mild and stainless steel production.
- Compile full assembly visuals and layout drawings (2D and 3D) to guide fabrication, integrate into proposals, and assist during client presentations.
- Manage design data libraries and material planning items to help streamline manufacturing schedules and processes.
- Play an active role in improving and standardising design processes, helping to implement best practices and maintain design continuity across projects.
- Control and maintain drawing files using Vault or equivalent data management systems to ensure traceability and version control.
- Assist in product development and testing through finite element analysis (FEA), verifying component strength and performance.
- Work closely with internal and external teams to troubleshoot design challenges and apply corrective or preventative measures as required.
- Undertake occasional site visits to assess installation conditions or capture survey data for new projects.
- Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance to colleagues, particularly apprentices or developing engineers, depending on your level of seniority.
