As a Support Worker in Builth Wells, you’ll help make the everyday remarkable for the people we support. We are dedicated to supporting those with learning disabilities to live a fulfilled and enriched life in the community. As a Support Worker, you can play a vital role in this.

Location: Builth Wells

Hours: 20 hours per week – Your shift pattern will include weekends and sleep‑ins.

Salary: £13.59 per hour, with sleep‑in shifts at £60 per night and travel expenses paid at 45p per mile.

Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Support people across four supported living services in Builth Wells – three in the town and one in the nearby village of Aberedw.
  • Help individuals shape their daily lives, from small choices to big decisions.
  • Support individuals to do the things they love, such as drinking at a local café, attending dance, music or arts sessions, spending time with friends and family, or enjoying swimming and local sports.
  • Drive and transport supporters to appointments and activities safely and comfortably; driving is essential for this role.
  • Provide practical, respectful support tailored to each person’s needs, including personal care where required, delivered with dignity and kindness.
  • Handle manual handling duties in two of the services and apply positive behaviour management for the service that supports individuals with behaviours.
  • Work within small team environments, building real relationships with both the people you support and your colleagues.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, paying bills, encouraging new activities, building confidence and fostering independence.

Qualifications:

  • No experience is required; full training will be provided.
  • Patience and empathy.
  • Ability to provide intimate personal care with respect and dignity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Capability to speak on behalf of others to a range of professionals.
  • Good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning.
  • Full driving licence – essential for transporting individuals to appointments and activities.
  • Access to your own car and willingness to use it for transporting people, with business insurance covered at 45p per mile.
