Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Level 1)
Actual Annual Salary: £21,012 - £22,903 (based on hours and working weeks)
Full Time Equivalent Salary: £25,941 - £28,275 (CLF Grade B, based on full‑time hours)

Responsibilities

  • Support the educational, personal, and social development of students under the guidance of teaching and support staff.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum, remain engaged, and achieve their full potential.
  • Deliver planned learning activities and teaching programmes, adapting support to meet the needs and responses of pupils where necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the academy to provide high‑quality educational experiences and promote the success and wellbeing of every child.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities, and how a Teaching Assistant supports students in their learning and development.
  • Ability to engage students and manage behaviour effectively on a one‑to‑one or small‑group basis, using appropriate strategies tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Commitment to undertake relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, and a current first‑aid qualification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening when working with students who may require additional support.
  • Good planning and organisational skills, particularly in preparing and adapting learning activities and support materials to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Genuine interest in working with children and young people, and a strong commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all learners, regardless of abilities or backgrounds.
  • Skilled Worker visas are not sponsored for this role.
