City of Bristol College is looking for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to support the Health and Safety Manager.
As Senior Health and Safety Advisor you will support the Health and Safety Manager in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment across the College, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and internal policy. You will work closely with Directors, Managers, staff, trade union representatives and contractors to provide practical, hands‑on advice, develop and review risk assessments and safe systems of work, and support the continuous improvement of health and safety standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Attend and contribute to relevant committees and management meetings.
- Produce clear procedures and reports, undertake inspections and investigations, and advise on new and emerging legislation.
- Deliver presentations and training and liaise with People Services on occupational health matters.
- Contribute to fire safety management and deputise for the Health and Safety Manager as required.
- Maintain professional competence, support safeguarding responsibilities, contribute to cross‑college projects and deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
Qualifications and experience:
Applicants must have a working knowledge of health and safety legislation and be able to support cross‑departmental projects. Experience in a senior advisory or managerial role in health and safety is desirable. All new employees are required to complete and obtain an enhanced DBS disclosure.
