We are pleased to advertise a whole‑time 12‑month fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at North Bristol NHS Trust. The successful candidate will join a team of nine Diagnostic Neuroradiology Consultants to provide neuroimaging for both adult and paediatric patients. In addition to tertiary neuroimaging, the DNR team supports multiple adult and paediatric local and regional MDTs, allowing the post holder to become proficient in Neuroradiology while providing opportunity to develop a particular subspecialist interest. North Bristol NHS Trust also provides a comprehensive 24/7 stroke service. Post holders are expected to provide cover for acute neuroimaging both in and out‑of‑hours under the supervision of the consultant body.
The fellowship is based at North Bristol NHS Trust Southmead Hospital and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust Bristol Children’s Hospital. The DNR team is part of a friendly and welcoming radiology department with 50 consultants and training for over 20 radiology SpRs, Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology fellows.
The candidate will have experience in all forms of general diagnostic neuroimaging and will share responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the neuroradiology department, supporting radiographers and radiology trainees. The candidate will receive training in all aspects of adult and paediatric tertiary neuroimaging, including neuro‑oncology, skull base, paediatric, spine, neuroinflammatory and epilepsy across local and regional MDTs. The candidate will also contribute to the acute/trauma service, requiring proficiency in emergency and trauma neuroimaging for daytime and on‑call duties, with consultant support for the tertiary/specialist elements of the on‑call service.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register for Clinical Radiology, have CCT in Clinical Radiology or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date, and hold full registration with the GMC. Experience in general diagnostic neuroimaging and familiarity with adult and paediatric tertiary neuroimaging sub‑specialties is required. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is desirable. These posts are not recognised for training by the Specialist Advisory Committee in Radiology and do not have postgraduate deanery approval. Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that permits employment in posts that are not recognised for training.
Upon completion of the fellowship the successful candidate will have an excellent educational environment to develop their neuroimaging skills and may progress to a consultant post in a tertiary neuroscience centre.
