The aim of this post is to enhance experience in advanced HPB endoscopy and hepatology, while supporting the development of independent practice in preparation for a substantive consultant role. The post is intended for individuals who have completed their training and have been awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Gastroenterology, with subspecialty accreditation in hepatology.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide two dedicated endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) training lists per week and additional exposure to HPB endoscopy.
  • Attend the regional HPB multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting as part of the job plan.
  • Maintain and deliver a comprehensive range of endoscopic services including EMR, ESD, Barrett’s oesophagus therapy, stricture dilation, ablative therapies, and tertiary biliary endoscopy such as ERCP, cholangioscopy and EUS within the UHBW Endoscopy Department.
  • Collaborate with the Hepatology Department to deliver specialist care across the spectrum of liver disease, including hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatitis C, complex portal hypertension and liver transplantation, in collaboration with the Royal Free Hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Gastroenterology.
  • Subspecialty accreditation in hepatology.
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced HPB endoscopy and hepatology procedures.

Location: Primary clinical sites include Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital, with additional provision at South Bristol Community Hospital and outreach services.

About the Department: The UHBW Endoscopy Department provides a comprehensive range of endoscopic services, and the Hepatology Department delivers specialist care across the full spectrum of liver disease for the local population and surrounding areas, collaborating with the Royal Free Hospital.
