We are a warm and family-centred household looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant to support our 9-year-old son, Matei, who has Cerebral Palsy (GMFCS Level IV). Matei is a very happy, sociable little boy who brings a lot of joy to those around him.
He is nonverbal but very expressive in his own way and enjoys interaction, attention, and being part of what is going on around him. He communicates through sounds, expressions, and body language, and builds strong bonds with people who are consistent and caring with him. He enjoys music, sensory play, stories, and exploring activities both indoors and outdoors. He likes to be involved in everything he can access safely, whether that is in his specialist seating, on the floor for relaxed play, or engaging in calm, structured activities.
We are looking for someone who can support him mainly during weekends and school holidays, helping him to enjoy his time in a safe, engaging, and comfortable way. The role is flexible and centred around his needs and routines. The role is part-time and flexible, consisting of:
- Approximately 4 hours during school run periods
- Up to 8 hours during school holidays / half terms
Hours may vary slightly depending on family needs, but will be agreed in advance. Matei requires support with all aspects of daily care, including feeding and drinking (he eats orally), personal care including nappies, safe positioning, transfers, and use of specialist equipment such as a hoist. We are a very hands-on family and have all necessary equipment in place at home, including adapted equipment and a garden bungalow which allows space for care, rest, and activities.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Kind, calm, and patient
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Willing to learn and follow guidance
- Comfortable supporting a child with complex needs
Experience is welcome but not essential. Full training and guidance will be provided. We are hoping to find someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and can become a positive and supportive presence in Matei’s life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care
- Training
- Essential PA Guide
- Safeguarding Adults/Children
- Moving & Handling
- Medical Continence Care
