About the role
This is a part‑time, permanent School Caretaker post, available as soon as possible. The role is graded H12, pays £25,185 pro rata (£13.05 per hour), working 15 hours per week across split shifts between 6:30 and 18:00, 44 weeks per year (with additional holiday hours totalling 75 hours across summer, Christmas, Easter and half‑terms).
Responsibilities:
- Open and close the building
- Respond to alarm call‑outs
- Oversee heating systems
- Liaise with contractors
- Keep the grounds in excellent order
- Support school lettings and events
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in premises management, facilities or a caretaking role
- Working knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Practical DIY skills and ability to carry out minor repairs
- Experience operating heating systems and building management equipment
- Enhanced DBS clearance (desirable)
- Confident working independently, use good judgement when responding to out‑of‑hours incidents, and take pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for children and staff
