This role offers you the chance to work as a Registered Mental Health Nurse within a secure setting, delivering care that is efficient and deeply centred on the patient. Our team delivers Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy and Clinical Substance Misuse services in an integrated model to improve well‑being and support better outcomes in the future. The role will involve working with offenders, providing specialist mental healthcare, and supporting early discharge and alternatives to inpatient admission.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Mental Health In‑Reach Team and wider mental health services.
  • Provide specialist interventions at primary and secondary care levels: referral management, screening assessment, triage, evidence‑based interventions, care planning, and risk assessment.
  • Deliver one‑to‑one and group work facilitation.
  • Manage a mixed and challenging caseload, including offenders with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
  • Contribute to early discharge and high‑intensity interventions to reduce length of stay.
  • Ensure continuity of care for offenders on ordinary location and collaboratively work with community mental health teams.
  • Maintain accurate, legible records of care provided, incorporating CPA processes, risk assessment and care planning.
  • Promote overall health and well‑being of the offender population using evidence‑based practice.
  • Work under the direction of senior staff and support the development of high‑quality mental health care.
  • Promote effective links with health and related services in the community to ensure continuity of care (CPA).

Qualifications & Experience

Eligible candidates must be a registered mental health nurse, Band 5 or newly qualified and willing to undertake our award‑winning preceptorship programme. Applicants are required to be willing to undertake National Security Vetting and must meet the UK right‑to‑work and ID documentation requirements.
