About this job
We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with autism and associated needs.
We are a specialist school for children and young people with autism aged 4‑19.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with general support throughout the school day in class, small groups and 1:1 sessions.
- Supporting pupils through academic, social and emotional elements of school life.
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development.
- Promoting positive behaviour through relational approaches.
- Providing personal and intimate care such as nappy changing, toileting support and assistance with daily routines.
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists and other professionals to identify and meet student needs.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, life skills and preparing pupils for life beyond the school.
- Supporting pupils during transitions, routines, enrichment activities and creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) across a range of subjects.
- Experience supporting children or young people with autism and associated needs.
- Experience working within an EYFS environment or an EYFS approach to learning.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Effective behaviour management skills using relational approaches.
- Good organisation and time‑management skills.
- Patient, nurturing and passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
Desirable
- A Level 3 or SEND‑related qualification.
- Experience supporting intuitive care.
- Experience developing links within the wider community.
- Knowledge of partnership working.
- A commitment to continued professional development.

Purely term‑time, 37 hours per week. Regular hours Monday‑Friday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (Monday), 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (Thursday & Friday).
Location

Contract
