As part of the NMSK division, and in conjunction with the Divisional Operations Director, the Deputy Divisional Operations Director will provide strategic and operational leadership to the division. The Deputy Divisional Operations Director is the first point of operational escalation for Specialties and will lead an agreed portfolio across elective and non-elective services. The post holder will lead, manage and support the division to deliver its activity, financial, workforce and quality targets through the continued development of patient-focused services. The post holder will also be the lead for performance monitoring, including a specific focus on areas requiring improvement. The role will have line-management responsibility and will be regarded as a core member of the Divisional Management Team. Occasional travel to other sites within the NHS Bristol Group may be required.
Responsibilities
- Support the Clinical Director and Divisional Operations Director in all aspects of the Division's management as a full member of the Division Management Team.
- Lead the development and implementation of annual Specialty Service Delivery Plans incorporating activity, access, financial investment and efficiency savings, workforce, clinical governance and controls assurance targets, ensuring that the plans can be delivered within existing or planned resources.
- In collaboration with other members of the divisional senior management team, be responsible for the delivery of annual plans (including income and performance targets).
- Manage agreed budgets to ensure efficient and effective use of resources and achievement of financial targets.
- Performance manage the activities of the specialties to ensure the achievement of all objectives agreed with the Divisional Operations Director, initiating corrective action where required to meet activity and access targets, to achieve financial balance or as agreed with the Divisional Operations Director.
- Direct line management of staff, specifically the network managers hosted within the division, providing leadership and ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place to set objectives, monitor performance and agree, review and deliver personal development needs.
