We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist to join our expanding, highly motivated team. This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a high-quality, patient‑centred paediatric cardiology service across both tertiary and regional settings. The successful candidate will deliver a broad range of clinical activity, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care, participation in service weeks, and on‑call provision, alongside active involvement in multidisciplinary team (MDT) working. The role will also support the delivery of peripheral clinics, ensuring equitable access to specialist cardiology services across the region.

You will join a supportive and collaborative consultant body, with opportunities to contribute to service development, quality improvement, teaching, and research. Responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to participate in all aspects of the paediatric cardiology service. This includes the care of inpatients within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) and the neonatal unit situated on the St Michael’s Hospital site. The post-holder will have a key role to play in the team of cardiologists led by Clinical Director, Mr Shafi Mussa and Clinical Lead, Dr Patricia Caldas and will provide:

  • Attendance at Joint Cardiac Conference (JCC) twice weekly
  • Attendance at Grand Rounds with the paediatric cardiology team
  • ‘On service’ cardiologist – short‑term responsibility (for one week at a time) for all cardiac inpatients and consultation with the patient’s designated cardiologist/cardiac surgeon as appropriate
  • On‑call evening and weekend service as part of a rota
  • Regular paediatric cardiology clinics at BRHC
  • Attendance at relevant MDMs
  • Attendance and participation at Cardiac Governance and Business meetings
  • Outpatient sessions at tertiary peripheral clinic/clinics
